TVOC ATEX Certified For Zone 2 Areas Without Safety Barriers

Ion Science introduces the ATEX approved 3 wire TVOC monitor,
for use without safety barriers in Zone 2 hazardous areas.

The ATEX certified TVOC (Total Volatile Organic Compound) can be installed without barriers in a Zone 2 area, to directly replace an existing VOC area monitor. A significant benefit to the customer is the instrument’s easy installation; saving time and reducing costs.

TVOC is also available as an IECEx and ATEX approved 4 wire option for zone 1 areas, with safety barriers.

Designed for fixed, continuous area monitoring, TVOC provides rapid, accurate detection of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The 4-20mA analogue output allows TVOC to be integrated into a DCS control system to give warning or control of high VOC levels within the working environment.

The TVOC photoionisation detection (PID) cell utilises patented Fence Electrode Technology; independently verified as the best performing PID on the market. DUSTTRAK II and DRX Dust Monitors

The new DUSTTRAK II and DRX Dust Monitors are battery-operated, data-logging, light-scattering laser photometers that give you real-time aerosol mass readings. These monitors measure aerosol contaminants such as dust, smoke, fumes and mists. They are suitable for clean office settings as well as harsh industrial workplaces, construction and environmental sites and other outdoor applications. The DUSTTRAK II and DRX Dust Monitors are both available in desktop or handheld models.

Easy to Program, Easy to Operate
The new graphical user interface with color touch-screen puts everything at the user’s fingertips. The easy-to-read display shows real-time mass concentration and graphical data as well as other statistical information.

DUSTTRAK DRX Dust Monitors
These new laser photometers simultaneously measure mass and size fraction— something no other monitor can do. Both the desktop and handheld models are continuous real-time 90° light-scattering laser photometers that simultaneously measure size-segregated mass fraction concentrations corresponding to PM1, PM2.5, Respirable, PM10, and Total PM size fractions. They combine both particle cloud (total area of scattered light) and single particle detection to achieve mass fraction measurements. This size-segregated mass fraction measurement technique is superior to either a basic photometer or optical particle counter (OPC). It delivers the mass concentration of a photometer and the size resolution of an OPC.
DUSTTRAK II Dust Monitors

Both the desktop and handheld models are continuous real-time, single-channel, 90° light-scattering laser photometers that are used to determine the mass concentration of aerosols. A built-in pump allows the use of a variety of size-selective inlet conditioners to measure aerosol concentrations corresponding to PM1, PM2.5, PM10, or Respirable size fractions.

TRAKPRO™ Software Makes Monitoring Easier than Ever
TRAKPRO Data Analysis Software allows the user to set up and program directly from a PC. A new feature is the ability for remote programming and data acquisition from your PC via wireless (920MHz or 2.4GHz) communications or over an Ethernet network. TSI President Tom Kennedy comments that “TSI is dedicated to workplace safety by continuing to develop innovative products for occupational health and safety experts.”

The Occupational Health & Safety New Product of the Year Award honors the outstanding product development achievements of health and safety manufacturers whose products are considered to be exceptional in their ability to improve workplace safety. This award has eleven recognition categories, of which TSI won Respiratory Protection. The TSI PortaCount PRO and PRO+ Respirator Fit Testers were both selected in their category among forty other products that were considered for 2009’s New Product of the Year. The Occupational Health & Safety 2009 New Product of the Year Awards were independently judged by three industry experts.

Recent developments @ ITS

Since our last newsletter a range of projects are now coming to completion. These will significantly improve all the areas of instrumentation that Industrial Tomography Systems (ITS) is involved in.

ITS’s primary Electrical Resistance Tomography platform – the p2000 – has had a substantial makeover and is being upgraded as the p2+.

ITS awarded grant to develop an in-line sensor for rheological characterisation of materials

ITS have been awarded a Research and Development Grant from Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) to evaluate the feasibility of developing a combined in-line sensor for the rheological characterisation of materials.

Tribute to Prof Reg Mann

Professor Reginald Mann passed away on Sunday, June 7th, 2009. Reg had taken ill with a serious stroke on Friday June 5th. Reg, who was an Emeritus Professor in Chemical Engineering at UMIST.

The TSI Model 8375 Modular Air Balancing Tool is an exceptionally versatile testing device for the HVAC test and balance and the industrial hygiene professional features a multi-purpose digital manometer that can be used with a variety of common test and balance tools: Available tools include a capture hood, a relative humidity and temperature probe, an air flow probe, a pitot probe, static pressure probes, and a velocity matrix. The optional velocity matrix provides fast readings of 16 measuring points simultaneously, making it ideal for a wide variety of measurements in fume hoods, Biological Safety Cabinets, and HVAC systems.

Technicians will appreciate the light weight (3.5 kg) and ergonomic design of the ACCUBALANCE capture hood base assembly, especially when making over-the-head measurements – as well as the fact it can be powered by AC mains or just 4 AA rechargeable or alkaline batteries.

The Model 8375’s meter is easily attached/detached from the ACCUBALANCE base assembly to use with various accessories to perform a wide variety of measurements: air temperature, relative humidity, differential pressure, static pressure, air velocity or volume, and lab hood face velocities. Data logging allows test data to be downloaded to a PC using the included TSI LogDat™ software program.
