PIV/PLIF

  • Measures flow velocity and global scalar property fields simultaneously
  • Choice of different cameras for PIV and PLIF imaging
  • Simultaneous or sequential PIV and PLIF measurements
  • Use of INSIGHT™ 3G Data Acquisition, Analysis and Display Software affords maximum flexibility in data acquisition and display
  • Unique, in-situ PLIF calibration process can be performed under actual experimental conditions
  • Choice of lasers to match the application

External Intensifier

  • The TSI External Image Intensifier is used in many combustion and vapor-phase PLIF experiments
  • Use the camera alone for other measurements (such as PIV)
  • The image intensifier provides all the benefits of an internally intensified camera
  • Complete blocking of the laser line in fluorescence images, large improvement in SNR by reduction of background intensity (in combustion measurements), and detection of very weak fluorescence signals
  • Hookup is a snap, and the intensifier is controlled right from the computer screen
  • Two photocathodes are available in order to customize the spectral sensitivity of the system to the fluorescence wavelength of the species of interest
  • Both Gen II (S25) and Gen III (GaAsP) are available, depending on the species to be measured
  • Allows flexible use of your PowerView Plus series camera
  • Easily attachable and fully integrated into the Insight 3G software package this image intensifier allows a wider variety of PLIF and Micro-PIV measurements

Intensified Cameras

  • A key PLIF system component is the intensified CCD camera system
  • Consists of the camera, computer interface, camera lenses, and species-dependent fluorescence filters
  • Relies on the Dicam Pro internally intensified CCD camera
  • The Dicam Pro features a 1280 x 1024 CCD array with 12-bit dynamic range and shutter times down to 3 ns
  • Camera and intensifier control is conveniently available from withing the Insight 3G software package
  • Peltier cooling maintains the CCD sensor at -12° C to minimize camera noise
  • The internal image intensifier is required for many combustion and vapor-phase PLIF experiments, by offering complete blocking of the laser line in fluorescence images, large improvement in SNR by reduction of background intensity (in combustion measurements), and detection of very weak fluorescence signals.
  • TSI Image Intensified Cameras are the best way to extract data from weak fluorescence and tight timing measurement situations
  • Fully integrated into the Insight 3G software package, these cameras allow a variety of PLIF and other Global Imaging measurements to be made

PLIF - PIV System

  • Provides global measurements of scalar quantities such as concentration, temperature, pH, and species
  • Advanced analysis algorithms to account for camera noise, background signals, spatial variations in laser sheet intensity, temporal variations in laser pulse energy
  • User-programmable image analysis schemes for maximum experimental flexibility
  • Full range of camera support, including all TSI intensified and un-intensified cameras
  • Seamless integration with TSI PIV systems for simultaneous global velocity measurements
  • Excitation wavelength flexibility from UV into IR

High Frame Rate - PLIF System

  • TSI High Frame Rate PLIF systems are designed to meet the research needs of anyone needing a fully integrated, turn-key system
  • Provides global species measurements in rapidly changing mixing, materials processing, heat/mass transfer, and other liquid based environments
  • The TSI High Frame Rate PLIF system uses planar laser-induced fluorescence (PLIF) to provide global concentration measurement of the species of interest in the laser sheet region
  • The systems are composed of three integrated sub-systems: the Illumination Sub-system, the Imaging Sub-system, and the Display and Analysis Sub-system
  • Fully integrated, turn-key system that provides global species measurements in mixing, materials processing, heat/mass transfer, and other rapidly changing environments
